The freedom to combine different system suppliers

Göteborgs Metallpartier was founded in 1972. What began as a two-person operation has grown into a company with 25 employees and a broad product portfolio. The business manufactures windows, doors and curtain walls for private clients as well as for large-scale projects such as hotels, car dealerships and hospitals. Its products contribute to the distinctive and varied cityscape of Gothenburg, Sweden.

At the end of the 1990s, the company began searching for suitable window software. Filip Millner, Managing Director of the long-established family business, explains: “We wanted to have a software that wasn’t connected to an aluminium supplier. That we could choose, if we want to buy from Hydro, Reynaers, AluK or whatever system.” Logikal matched these requirements perfectly – at the time, it was the only software on the market to do so.

“We wanted software that was not tied to a specific profile manufacturer.”

Tailored for success

At that time, Göteborgs Metallpartier worked with a single main supplier. While the offering was well suited to the commercial market, it was too limited for the private sector – for example, sliding doors or outward-opening windows were not available. The company therefore began working with additional system suppliers that covered these requirements effectively. This made it possible to combine systems as needed.

Logikal’s manufacturer-independent approach made it easy to work with multiple suppliers. It also simplified another crucial aspect: competitive pricing. “Of course, it’s the price,” says Filip Millner. On some days, one supplier may be significantly cheaper than another; six months later, the situation may be completely reversed. Logikal makes it easy to compare options and make the best decision for the business. “By pressing a button, at this moment we know where to buy it. That’s of course very important, especially today, as the market is very, very tough,” he explains.

Simple CNC integration

The move towards manufacturer-independent processing was further supported by the transition to CNC machines. The punching machines previously used were closely tied to specific systems.

“Logikal and CNC machinery made it possible to use multiple aluminium systems,” says Filip Millner. It no longer mattered which supplier the aluminium was purchased from, as everything could now be managed within a single software solution.

Today, Göteborgs Metallpartier processes around 100 tonnes of aluminium per year – achieving impressive results that help shape the cityscape of Gothenburg.
